TodaySo, today was the day that I submitted my portfolio for AP, it being the due date and all. When low and behold, about 10 or so students aren't finished with their pieces. And I'm not talking about 'oh just gotta send my portfolio, or gotta type up my artist statement." No, like being 5 pieces short of submitting their AP portfolio. So their going to have to stay till 11 or so at school till it's done.
... On a side note, I submitted some of my artwork for a competition called Marie Walsh. A competition where the winners get to go to a 2 week course where they can learn more about the field of art and acquire various teachings from college professors. Their judging regulations are that only 60 students who submit a portfolio will be entered into the course. I didn't win. If you know me, I never win for my art. Instead, I got a sort of secondary option, I JUST missed the cut. I'm in the group of 10 who didn't get in, but can is someone opts out. No matter how artistic or technicall
a dangerous hallucinationThe light coming through the window was bright,
much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
